Farm History

Sunnyside Stock Farm (SSF) celebrates fifty years of operation: This year, 2014, marks the fiftieth anniversary of continuous operation of Sunnyside Stock Farm. David Phair opened SSF at the current 5682 Sweetwater Road location in 1964, having moved from a smaller farm, Tyson Farm, located at the west end of the Sweetwater River Valley. The farm was started as a place for Dave’s family to congregate and share in their mutual love for horses, and one-another.

That love of horses evolved from a back-yard horse for his first daughter into breeding and performance classes with Appaloosas in the early years, to a forty year run as a Cutting and Performance Quarter Horse boarding, breeding, breaking and training facility. Dave’s was a prominent name in the cutting industry of Southern California for much of that time and in his later years he again changed the ranch business plan to combine his Cutting activities with a premium boarding facility.
